Labor Day

Well I got a couple of things done over the long weekend, but I am still working on some items. I have an over abundance of Play-Doh that is just sitting in my classroom. We have been reviewing letters in class and have also been introducing "popcorn words" aka. "sight words." Over the weekend I figured that I would make Play-Doh/Dry Erase Mats for my kiddos so that they could work on these skills. These mats are great for center activities and I cannot wait to start centers in my classroom. These mats are also great for individual student use if you have students who tend to finish their work early and need something productive to do to keep them busy. I think my kinders are going to love these bright, colorful mats and they are going to be thrilled to use PLAY-DOH and DRY ERASE MARKERS! They are going to think that they hit the JACK POT! Please click on the links below to check out my sight word & alphabet Play-Doh Mats at my Tpt store! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend! Back to the real world tomorrow! :-) Oh yeah in honor of Labor Day, the 1st 2 people to comment on this post will receive both sets of play-doh / dry erase mats free!!! Please leave your name and email address below!

Another School Year Already???

I can't believe that I am starting another school year already! It feels like last school year just ended. Summer break keeps getting shorter and shorter! Last year was a tough school year for me. I had a very demanding class and they wore me out mentally and physically, but I SURVIVED!!! Even though it was a tough year, I fell in love with the kiddos and I think that they helped me to grow professionally as a teacher. I had to come up with some tools and tricks that I have never used before, so I am thankful to them for pushing me to try new things. The start of this school has been much smoother and I am so thankful for that. I really think it is going to be a fun school year! My kiddos are not perfect by any means but they are eager to learn and catch onto things pretty quickly. I hope that I find more time to blog this school year. I really enjoy it and it actually is kind of a stress reliever to me. I like to talk about school and sometimes no one wants to listen...lol...so I can just type away and get it all out! My goal this year is to create more activities for school and like I said "blog" more and interact more with my fellow bloggers. I am just in awe of some of you and how you find the time to do all the cool things you do (I need your secret)!!! My daughter is 2 now and she takes up a lot of my time (I wouldn't have it any other way) time with her is just too precious to miss out on. But seriously, those of you teacher bloggers who have young ones at home, please share any secrets or tips you have about how you create activities in a timely manner and also have time to post daily/weekly. I would love some advice!

The start of the kindergarten school year is kind of slow because we are just doing the basics which is learning rules and procedures. We have been working on reviewing identifying letters of the alphabet and learning letter sounds. We are also working on letter formation. Beginning of the year writing kind of makes me cringe a little, but it is amazing how these kiddos improve on their handwriting skills throughout the school year. I created a basic little alphabet sheet tonight to help my kinders with letter formation. I am going to laminate a copy for each student so they can use their dry erase markers on it. Dry Erase markers make everything more fun right!?! It is not anything fancy, but it serves a purpose and that is all that matters. Happy Tuesday!

Happy Holidays!!!

I can't believe that it is already December and that Christmas is right around the corner. I am not big on Black Friday shopping, but I did enjoy spending Thanksgiving with my family. I can't believe that I have not posted on here since October of last year, but I am just finding it very difficult to find extra time in my day. My 18 month old keeps me extra busy as does my job. I actually was able to create some holiday activities over my long weekend and I really enjoyed enjoyed it and it makes me sad that I don't have time to do it more often. I created a small packet of December activities, that I am hoping to add more too this week. My mind is flowing with ideas, I just ran out of time before Cyber Monday. You can check this packet out on my TpT store. I have also included a little freebie below. I hope that the holidays treat everyone well, and I hope that I am not a stranger to my blog anymore. I guess that could be my New Year's Resolution this year! :-) I hope you enjoy the December freebie!

Happy Halloween 2013

So once again I have been a bad blogger and haven't posted anything in awhile. I was so excited to get my blog up and running and create a TpT store and then all of it had to come to a halt. I had a rough end of the school year and a very busy summer trying to recover from having my baby girl. I had a lot of complications and it took me awhile to get back to my normal self. I am finally starting to feel like I have work and being a mommy under control. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to create much or blog lately. Thank goodness there are so many awesome bloggers out there who have brilliant ideas and activities that I can purchase and download to use in my classroom while I am slacking. Since Halloween is approaching I thought that I would post a HALLOWEEN FREEBIE!!! I Hope you enjoy! HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!

I also wanted to post some pics of my sweet, sweet, angel Adley Lynn Huber. She is my little miracle! <3

I have not been able to post anything in awhile because I have been so busy with work, grad school, and being preggo. I am excited to say that I have finally hit my last trimester and cannot wait for my little baby girl to get here in June! Looking over my lesson plans for this week we are getting ready to start working on addition. We have worked a little bit on addition throughout the school year and my kids really love it. Since Easter is right around the corner and I have been a slacker with my blogging, I decided to make a little Easter Addition Activity. I hope everyone has a great week! Click here to get my Easter Freebie. Enjoy! :-)

Happy Halloween!!!

I feel like I have been going crazy lately!!! I have so much on my plate and haven't had time to do what I like to do for fun which is Create Activities!!! While I am sitting at my house waiting for Trick-or-Treaters, I decided that I would make a quick activity. I plan to use this activity during RTI. One of the skills that we are required to test our students on is "Quantity Discrimination." This is just a quick little activity that you can use to reinforce or assess your students' knowledge of "Quantity Discrimination," and the best thing about it is that it is FREE!!! Happy Halloween everyone! Click Here for the activity.

M.I.A.

I apologize for not having made any posts in awhile. I have been missing my blog but I just haven't had any spare time to post or make anything. I have been working on some word work activities 5 minutes here and 5 minutes there, so eventually I will complete them. Between all the stuff that I am having to do for my corporations new RISE evaluations on top of my 2 graduate classes, I have absolutely ZERO free time. This week in my reading series, I am reading the story Life in and Ocean with my class. I created this little Ocean activity page for my students to work on during the Word Work portion of Daily 5 . It's nothing much but my kiddos really enjoyed doing it! Have a great rest of the week! Ocean Words Activity
